WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
ABE and ESOL program directors in nonprofit organizations often start as classroom teachers and gradually assume more responsibility as administrators, all without formal training in program management. Most learn through trial and error, shouldering immense responsibilities for keeping staff jobs and for keeping classes and services funded. This workshop will bring together program directors and coordinators, new and experienced, to explore components of a well-run ABE/ESOL program: one that eases your stressors and engages your staff. Session two will build on session one and will allow ample time for participants to discuss their own experiences, to pose challenges, and to share processes that have worked for them.

A commitment to attend both sessions is asked of all participants.

PRESENTER:
Christine Tibor, Executive Director, Family and Community Engagement for The Framingham Public Schools
Adult educational programming has been at the center of Christine Tibor’s life since she became the first teacher and subsequent director of Framingham Adult ESL Plus. Under her leadership, a single class grew into a program of 35 classes serving over 700 students in AM and PM ESL classes, High School Equivalency classes and Citizenship preparation classes. In 2015, Ms. Tibor was appointed Executive Director of Family and Community Engagement for The Framingham Public Schools. In this position she works with Framingham Adult ESL Plus, The Parent Information Center, and The Early Childhood Alliance as well as Framingham School Department attendance programs.

This workshop is free to all staff of Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL programs.
